1-Year Filmmaking Program (Advanced) – Entry Requirements

We evaluate applicants for the 1-Year Advanced Filmmaking Program holistically. In addition to your showreel and CV, we also request a letter of motivation and one recommendation letter from a previous tutor, mentor, or filmmaking colleague. Finally, we invite you for an interview to better understand your previous experience in film and your goals as a filmmaker. Please choose your specialisation in the online application form.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Age: 18 Years

17-year-old applicants are also accepted if they are in the final year of secondary education and provide parental/guardian consent for signing the contract.

English: Communicative Level

Applicants must be able to communicate comfortably in English in class and on set (approx. B1–B2). No language certificate is required.

Scan of Passport / ID Card

A scan or photo of a valid passport or ID card is required as part of the application for identity verification. Data is processed in line with GDPR.

Secondary School Certificate (any field)

To apply, you should normally have a secondary school certificate. If you do not have a standard certificate, we may also accept:

  • other recognized qualifications demonstrating readiness for study
  • international equivalents of a secondary school certificate
  • relevant work experience in filmmaking

Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Your CV should include your name and contact details, a personal statement, work experience or your video/film shooting references, education and qualifications, key skills.

Short Film(s)

We would like to see at least one short film or project that you have already created and where you had a key role — for example as a director, cinematographer, editor, producer, or writer.

Please include a link to the film (YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive) and add a short note describing your role in the project and what part of the work was done by you.

If you have more than one project, feel free to share up to three links that best represent your creative work.

Motivation Letter

Submit a motivational letter of 1–2 standard pages (250–500 words) describing your motivation to study film, your interest or goals in filmmaking, and why Prague Film Institute is the right fit for you.

Recommendation Letter

A letter of recommendation from a previous tutor, mentor, or filmmaking colleague. 

Online Interview

Once you submit all requirements we will get in touch with you to set up a short video call. We will ask you about your experience with filmmaking and your career ambitions.
