The 1-Year Filmmaking Program (Advanced) is built for film students who already have strong general filmmaking foundations — including hands-on experience with camera equipment and on-set workflow — and at least one high-quality short-film credit in a key role. You’ll choose your path in Directing, Cinematography, Production, Screenwriting, Documentary or Post-Production and dive straight into advanced work — taking mandatory classes in your department while using the rest of your schedule for electives or developing your own film projects. Throughout the year, students take part in multiple film projects across the program, while progressively focusing their creative energy on the development of a major final film with strong festival ambitions. Along the way, you can take part in filmmaking internships on real productions, and the strongest student final films receive production support and festival distribution guidance.

Choose from directing, cinematography, documentary, screenwriting, production or post-production

Receive a Prague Film Institute Certificate upon completion. BTEC credit options may be available upon request and subject to individual assessment.
Choose your specialisation and deepen your skills in a focused, highly practical environment. Specialisation classes are mandatory, while the rest of your timetable is flexible — allowing you to shape an individual study plan based on your goals and pace.
Each semester includes an intensive shooting period, so you spend a significant part of the year on set, earn credits across multiple films (many students finish with credits on 8–10 films), and progressively develop a major final film in your specialisation with strong festival ambitions. You’ll collaborate across programs, build connections with international filmmakers, and—when suitable—cast actors from our acting courses. Alongside production, you receive ongoing career development support focused on portfolio strategy, positioning, and next steps after the program.
