APPLYING & PAYMENTS

Does Prague Film Institute help me with the visa process?

Prague Film Institute can recommend a reputable Visa Agency, which has a high visa success rate. Prague Film Institute guarantees to promptly communicate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and answer all their questions regarding our student’s visa applications, which helps to speed up the process of acquiring the visa.

Do I have to provide any language certificate?

No. Language certificate is not necessary, however you must be able to communicate in English.

How do I make the payments for 1 year Filmmaking Course?

  • After signature of the contract we will issue an invoice for 50% deposit of tuition fee.
  • After your payment we will issue documents necessary for your visa application (in case you will not receive your visa, we will return 100% of the paid deposit).
  • The remaining 50% of tuition fee is due no later than six weeks before the start of the course. 

 

How do I make the payments for 2 Years Filmmaking Degree Course?

  • After signature of the contract we will issue an invoice for 50% deposit of first year of tuition fee.
  • After your payment we will issue documents necessary for your visa application (in case you will not receive your visa, we will return 100% of the paid deposit).
  • The remaining 50% of tuition fee for the first year is due no later than six weeks before the start of the course. 
  • The tuition fee of the second year is due no later than six weeks before the start of the academic year.

COVID-19

Is the country under any restrictions due to the Covid-19? Will the course be canceled if there are any more lockdowns?

In case of a new wave of the pandemic and lockdown, Prague Film Institute has you covered. We have a plan B pandemic schedule, which covers all theoretical lessons online and prepares you for the practical lessons which you would start as soon as the restrictions are released.

Currently the population in the Czech Republic is being massively vaccinated and the restrictions are being gradually released.

 

STUDIES

How many students would be there in the coming batch?

Since the application period is still open, we do not know at the moment how many students will attend the upcoming academic year. However, in any case, all classes are organised in groups of 5-15 students maximum.

How much emphasis is given to a chosen specialisation during the 1 Year Filmmaking Course?

The emphasis on the chosen specialisation is given mostly during practical classes and internships. Both during the practical lessons and internship opportunities you will have tasks assigned according to your focus and department of interest.

 

At the same time, our 1 Year Filmmaking Course also covers all basics of general filmmaking to make you understand how different departments collaborate and what are the responsibilities among crew members, which is crucial for your future successful career in the film industry. How much emphasis is given to a chosen specialisation during the 2 Years Filmmaking Degree Course?

During the first year you will cover all the basics of general filmmaking to learn how different departments collaborate and what are the responsibilities among crew members, which is necessary for your future career in the film industry.

In the second year, you will go deeper in your chosen specialization during classes as well as getting more advanced internship opportunities according to your specialization, where you will work side by side with screenwriters, directors, cinematographers and/or editors, while gaining experience and credits to build your CV.

Does Prague Film Institute provide scholarship opportunities?

No, our school does not directly provide financial aid or discounts in school fees. However students applying to Prague Film Institute may be eligible for government funding or loans through their national ministries of education. Students from Scandinavian countries can apply to their home countries for governmental study grants. UK students can seek loans from the career development loan organization. US and Indian students can get private loans from private banks in their home countries. 

JOB PLACEMENT

Will Prague Film Institute help me find a job in the film industry after studies?

Prague Film Institute partners with a professional production company Three Brothers Productions. During your studies you will have the opportunity to internship on professional film sets and show your work ethic and skills. After your studies, we use our industry contacts and recommend our best students who have shown excellent skills to industry professionals and other production companies around the Czech Republic, which gives you a high chance of job placement.

Currently in the Czech Republic 160, both local and international, film projects are being developed and/or produced and Prague Film Institute makes sure to present them its best students.

Does Prague Film Institute share industry contacts with students?

Yes, Prague Film Institute is a film school directly connected to the professional film industry. The premises of the school are shared with production companies Twin Star Films and Profesionalni Video, as well as an equipment rental facility (where cinematography classes take place) LS Lumination Pictures
Our students get to meet industry professionals in their every day work environment. Apart from our in-house partner, Prague Film Institute also collaborates with other external industry professionals. Will I get any internship opportunity during my studies?

Is Prague Film Institute accredited?

Does Prague Film Institute provide housing?

No, Prague Film Institute doesn’t provide housing, however finding accommodation in Prague is easy. You can search for accommodation on our website.
