The municipal district where our school is located is Prague – Slivenec. This place is considered to be a Prague’s main center of film production because it is adjacent to Barrandov film studios, PFX post-production studio, film production companies Twin Star and Three Brothers, professional film equipment rental house LS Lumination Pictures and many others. Moreover, Slivenec is a popular place for living thanks to its calm and green surroundings. You can reach Prague center easily by public transportation in 30 minutes.
The Prague-Slivenec district is located in the south-western part of Prague. It lies on a plateau above the Prokopsky, Radlicky and Chuchelsky valleys, in a predominantly agricultural landscape. This part of the city boasts a beautiful landscape, surrounded by nature and mining of Slivenec marble. Thanks to its convenient form and easy access to the city center, it is a popular location for living.
Just next to Slivenec are the Barrandov Studios, also known as the “European Hollywood” or “Hollywood of the East” due to its ever increasing interest from western film productions. Here the Czech flag regularly flies alongside that of the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany and Russia. Barrandov is one of the largest and oldest film studios in Europe. For over 80 years this place has been the location of choice for over 2,500 international and Czech films. Barrandov Studio is also a production hub for the television community.
The bus station is located just next to the school entrance. With public transportation you can reach Prague Film Institute from Prague’s center in 30 minutes. Prague has one of the best public transportation systems in Europe. The metro, tram and buses are used by two-thirds of Prague’s population.
Although Slivenec is part of the Prague agglomeration, urban development is often directly adjacent to a protected part of nature. If you get bored by Slivenec facilities, you can head to the nearby Prague city center which has amazing nightlife and clubbing scene. You can choose from many shops, restaurants, nightclubs, underground cave bars, rooftop terraces and beer gardens.
