A premium talk series in English – the only Prague Film Institute events open to the public outside of our standard courses. Designed for a small audience, these sessions offer a close-up experience with acclaimed filmmakers and actors. Each talk offers a rare insight into the speaker’s creative process, is moderated by a member of the Prague Film Institute team, and includes a discussion and Q&A. Please note: all talks are conducted in English.

These events are designed to inspire both students and visitors interested in the film industry, providing direct access to professional experience and creative perspectives from working filmmakers. They also create a unique space for networking, learning, and engaging with real-world film practice in an intimate setting.

A six-time Oscar-nominated production sound mixer and one of the leading experts in his field, Tod A. Maitland has contributed to over 100 feature films. He has collaborated with renowned directors such as Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese, with whom he is currently collaborating on the upcoming film What Happens at Night, continuing their outstanding creative partnership. It is a great honour for the Prague Film Institute to welcome him in person for this special Q&A. This is a rare opportunity to meet him up close in an intimate setting and gain insight into the craft of sound at the highest level of filmmaking.
